This is the same animation as the previous entry but with color.

Bird in water

This was an assignment for Intermediate 2D animation. The assignment involved studying water, how it moves, splashing, etc.

Mouse and Apple

This was my final done for principles of 2D animation about 1-1.5 years ago and really the only project I was happy with in that class. If I remember correctly, the theme for our final was weight and volume. I worked very hard on it...long hours and trial and error. Lot of sweat and tears went into this class. I learned a lot about myself. Anyways, here it is =)

Lillies

The yellow water Lilly was done in highschool for my cousin as a gift when she had her first child. Acrylic on canvas.

This piece was done right after highschool. One my best friends was moving away and wanted to give him something as a going away present. Acrylic on canvas.

Background Design - Jack and the Beanstalk

These pieces were done in a series for Jack and the Beanstalk and done in Photoshop.

1. This is an interior shot of Jack and his Mother's house. I wanted it to look like a lived-in cottage and belonging to poor people. I think the most successful part of this piece is the use of light and shadow and warm colors from the fire. If i went back and redid it, I would add more texture.

2. This is an exterior of the giant's Castle. My ideas were never too clear on this one but I was generally happy with it. Perspective is a bit off.

3. Landscape piece for Jack and the Beanstalk. I think this is one of the best in the series.

4. The final piece. We got to choose whatever we wanted whether it was an interior, exterior, or landscape piece. I really enjoyed working on the interior piece and decided to do Jack's house - exterior. I might have overdone the texture in some areas but was happy with it in the end.

Background Design

Ok so this was done in Background Design class - one of my most favorite classes I've had. This was my very first one - We had a choice to do a piece from Little Red Riding hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, or Rumplestiltskin. I decided to go with Little Red Riding Hood. My process was to read the story, develop some thumbnails, and then do some color studies. Overall, I'm not thrilled with this piece - there isn't much value and I used one photoshop brush; however I do like the colors I used. The color Studies are shown above.

These are a mesh of sketches done from Anatomy classes and Gesture Drawing Classes

Pink and Grey

Gouche again - this was the only medium we used the entire quarter. The assigment was to use human reference and paint one in a monochrome color (I chose Magenta) and do the same thing but in gray scale. I feel these might be the best I did while in this class. I completed these when we had a week off of school due to the rampant fires we have had out here...got a little extra time to work on them.

Spongebob

Again, done in Color Theory class and with Gouche as my medium. The assignment was all about cartoons, using bright saturated colors and doing the same in gray scale. I'm not sure why but our teacher wanted us to add extra elements to the colored piece so I added the Jellyfish and the bubbles. We all know how Spongebob loves Jellyfish Fields =)

Vegetable Man

This was also done for my Color Theory class. The assignment was to take a pre-existing work of art and divide it into different color relationships. The original piece was done by Giuseppe Arcimboldo titled "Vegetable Man" (Roman God of the Season Vertumnus). I chose this piece because I thought it would be fun to do and I like the small detail. My piece was also done in Gouche

Victorian Crowned Pigeon

This is very early work from when I first started college. It was from my color theory class and out assignment was to study animals that do or do not camouflage. I chose the Victorian Crowned Pigeon; they are very beautiful birds. The orginal photo was taken from life and the image was redrawn. I painted with Gouche (similar to watercolor).
